To all Hockey Players.
Hockey is a great way to get fit, have fun and to meet new friends, its also good way raise money by holding a Charity Event.
Can you help!
The Charity that I am supporting is H.E.A.R.T UK the Cholesterol Charity.
I have two reasons for supporting this charity:
• I recently attended a funeral of a friend who had a huge Heart attack. Tom was a very fit man, we played Hockey in the same team twice a week for over 12 years, he was also training to do the London marathon. The reason for his death was that he had undiagnosed, out of control, high cholesterol, caused by an inherited gene, had this been diagnosed early in life he could have been treated, in effect he was living with a death sentence. In memory of Tom I am trying to raise £5000 for the charity.

• In February 2008 I was tested and found out that my cholesterol level was very high, as a result of this test and guidance from my doctor I have changed my lifestyle totally and have lost just over 2 1/2 stone which in turn has brought my cholesterol down to within the normal safe level, if it had not been for that test I may not have known. Heart UK is a fitting charity as they raise awareness about the risks of high cholesterol and fund research into improved treatment.
H.E.A.R.T. UK – Cholesterol Charity – is passionate about preventing early deaths by raised cholesterol, especially inherited high cholesterol (IHC). IHC affects one person in every 100 but sadly only 15% are currently diagnosed, leaving around 500,000 people in the UK unknowingly at risk of early heart attack, stroke and shortened lives. Your support will help us to raise awareness about the dangers of high cholesterol, identity more families at risk and support those affected
Together we can keep young hearts running!
Heart UK encourage people to get active, supporters of the charity are easily recognisable as they wear red laces in their sports shoes when participating in sport – hence TEAM RED LACES, in fact all runners in the London marathon next year supporting the charity will be wearing them. The charity supply the laces, all they ask is that a minimum donation of £1 is made for each pair. Anyone can wear them. My aim is to get as many Hockey teams in England to wear them. If you want a pair of laces for yourself or your team or want to support the charity in any way, please get in contact with me and I will send you the laces. Many teams are already wearing them Inc: Lansdown, Evesham, England under 18s, The Prison Service HC, City of London Police HC & NI Police HC plus many more.
