Wednesbury 1 Coventry & North Warwicks 4

C&NW's under 15 side added to the weekends success with an emphatic win over Wednesbury to reach the quarter finals of the National Plate competition.
After only three minutes Mark Bests intelligent lay off found Dominic Bell who made no mistake flicking the ball past the Wednesbury keeper. Coventry Captain Bell dominated the game from centre midfield allowing Rennie and Sewell to surge forward on the right flank. Wednesbury hung on as Coventry piled on the pressure and were fortunate when Cov scored only to find that the umpire had blown to award them a penalty corner, 26 minutes into the half Chris Sewell beat his man and then picked out Best in the circle who calmly found the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
Wednesbury rallied a little and right on the half time whistle some sleepy defending saw the home side awarded a penalty corner which was deflected of a Coventry stick passed the helpless Basra.
Coventry upped the work rate in the second half and pinned Wednesbury back in their own half for long period, the pressure finally paid with a quick brace from Wise including a spectacular reverse stick shot that flew into the roof of the net. Wednesbury threw everything forward but found no way past the well organised Coventry defence Coventry now progress to the quarter final stage scheduled for the 15th March.
