Coventry & North Warwickshire Hockey Club 2009/2010 Season

Firstly a warm welcome to all newcomers, thanks for joining us, I hope you’ll enjoy both your pitch and social time with us. To those few that have moved on, good luck but remember you’re always welcome back.

The new season is right upon us and thankfully the 1st XI training squad are already preparing for the new season under the guidance of new captain Ben Clarke and old coach Graham Burgess.

The website (cnwhc.com) is being constantly updated with information as and when it becomes available so please check it out when you can.

Tuesday Night Training at Warwick University from 1st September

Juniors/Club 6.30 – 8.00

Ladies 8.00 – 9.30

Mens 1st XI 8.00 – 9.45 (By invitation only)

I am really pleased to see that once again we are all training on the same night at Warwick Uni and I am delighted that we have two CCC’s (centrally contracted coaches) in the form of Greg Wade and Simon Lee to work alongside Graham.
Sunday Morning Training at Warwick University from 13th September

Saturday Pitch Bookings

Warwick University 11-12.30, 12.30-2.00 & 2.00-3.30

My sincere thanks go to Louise Barber for sorting out the pitch bookings and for all her efforts over the previous seasons in her role as Fixtures Secretary for both sections, Lou will now hand over to Nat Yorke-Goldney (Ladies Fixtures) and Bernardine Cox (Mens Fixtures) who I also thank for taking on such difficult posts.

Friendly matches start in September so please let me know if you won’t be available for any reason.

Umpires

For the last few seasons we have relied very heavily on a handful of volunteers, without whom we could not play and once again I thank them most sincerely for all their efforts.
This season we will also need players to umpire matches either before or after their own matches if we are to function as a club so please be prepared to help out when asked.
