Having lost their cup game narrowly on penalties to Lichfield after a 3-3 draw Coventry and North Warwickshire U15 side travelled to Gloucester City in the national plate competition.
Gloucester started strongly winning a penalty corner in the first few minutes but failed to convert, C&NW broke the deadlock after 4 minutes when Chris Sewell picked up a loose ball in the circle and slotted it neatly into the bottom corner. Heroics from the Gloucester keeper kept Coventry at bay until midway though the first half when Centre Forward Mark Best flicked a loose ball over him to make it 2-0. A flurry of goals late in the half from Dom Bell, Mark Best and Charlie Mulhall put the visitors 5-0 at half time. With the tie effectively over C&NW piled on the pressure in the second half, Coventry Skipper Dom Bell completed his hat trick and Mitch Wise fired home three times, Gloucester never gave up and managed to create several scoring opportunities but Jake Basra in the Coventry goal was as reliable as ever, late goals from Mulhall and Sewell completed the rout making it 12-0 at full time.
C&NW now progress into the last 16 but have to wait until March for the next round.
