Coventry and North Warwickshire Under 16 Hockey Team beat Burton 5-4 to earn a place in the quarter final of the National Plate Competition. C&NW were put under real pressure by the visitors but slowly fought their way back into the match to take a 3-0 lead at half time mainly due to some superb finishing from skipper Dominic Bell and Left wing Mitch Wise. Burton rallied again in the second half scoring from open play just five minutes into the half. A nice finish from Dan Merrel 7 minutes later regained the three goal cushion and then a fantastic move finished off by left back James Cook appeared to have settled the tie. Burton refused to give up and threw everything forward, only some good defending and some excellent keeping by Jake Basra kept the visitors at bay until 5 minutes from time when three goals in four minutes gave them a chance of snatching an unlikely draw, fortunately for C&NW the final whistle came in time to save the home side. C&NW wait for next weeks draw to see who they play on the 7th of March.
